TIL you can accidentally lock yourself out of your own car while it's still running in a gas station parking lot in Tulsa
I stopped for gas last Tuesday around 2 PM, got out to pump, and my door swung shut with the keys still in the ignition. The car was humming along nicely while I stood there staring through the window like an idiot. A guy in a blue pickup helped me wedge a coat hanger through the top of the driver's side window after 20 minutes of fiddling. Has anyone else done something this boneheaded with their keys in plain sight?

Stood there staring through the window like an idiot" - that's basically my entire life story, just with different windows and a lot more dead batteries. Did the exact same thing at a 7-Eleven in Dallas, except my car was a manual and I had left it in neutral (so it rolled a little). The coat hanger trick is a lifesaver, but it made me wonder who else keeps a wire coat hanger in their trunk for reasons that aren't dry cleaning.

Exactly, @milacraig. I keep a bent hanger under the seat for this exact reason, not dry cleaning.

No way, manual in neutral? That's a nightmare scenario right there. The thought of my car just casually rolling away while I'm locked out gives me a full body cringe. I'd probably just watch it go and then sit down on the curb and start crying honestly. That's some next level bad luck, worse than just being locked out with a dead battery.
