Warning: I thought a dog park meetup was for people, not pets
I saw a bunch of folks chatting in the park and went over to say hi. Turns out it was a puppy playdate group, and I was the only one without a dog. They all laughed when I asked about the human social hour. Now I'm wondering if I should get a dog just to fit in, you know?

Think about why you'd get a dog in the first place. Stellanelson is onto something with that question, you know? If it's just to chat with people at the park, that's a pretty big commitment for some small talk. Dogs need walks, vet visits, and they can cost a lot over time. You might end up resenting the pet if you only got it as a social prop. Maybe try finding a book club or a running group instead, where the focus is on people from the start.

Do you really want a dog, or just to fit in?

Watched my buddy get a puppy to seem cool, then he realized it was way too much work!
