Why does every Q&A thread turn into people arguing about semantics

I've been scrolling this community for about 3 months now and every time someone asks a simple question like 'what's the best way to learn Spanish' the top replies are always people fighting over the definition of 'best' or 'learn'. It happened again yesterday with a question about budgeting in Chicago and the whole thread derailed into a debate about whether rent counts as an expense. My crew does this at job sites too, where someone will ask for a paint color and get a lecture about undertones instead of an answer. Are people just bored or do they actually think this helps the person who asked?
