A random guy at the bar last week told me I was framing my night shots all wrong

He said stop centering everything and use the rule of thirds for stars. I tried it on my next shoot and the Andromeda photo actually came out way better. Anybody else get amateur advice that totally shifted their photography game?

Funny how the best advice often comes from strangers who just speak the truth you weren't ready to hear.

Has anyone else found that truth tends to land hardest from people with nothing to gain, @jenny_hall?

yeah but I dunno if it's always that deep. like sometimes the "truth" from strangers is just them being blunt cause they don't give a crap about your feelings, not cause they're some wise oracle. I've had random people tell me stuff that was just flat out wrong or way too judgmental. a guy at a bus stop once told me I should quit my job and travel cause "you're wasting your life" - like okay dude, you have no clue what my bills look like. it really just depends on the person and the situation.
