Captured Andromeda from my backyard after months of trying

Used my basic telescope and a DSLR. The image turned out sharp. What's your go-to method for dark sky shots?

Wow, that's seriously cool you got it with basic stuff! I read this article once where a guy said he takes like, hundreds of those short exposures, way more than you'd think. He stacks them all to pull out the faint details (said it's like adding layers of paint, which makes sense). A cheap star tracker was his big secret, lets you get way longer shots without trails. Sounds like a patience game, but the results looked unreal.

I tried that stacking trick on the Orion Nebula from my backyard in Phoenix. My old camera battery died after maybe seventy shots, so I only got a blurry smudge. Still kinda fun to try, even when it totally fails.

lol, nailing Andromeda with basic gear is sick! My method involves stacking a bunch of short exposures to fight noise. Even a simple tracking mount helps a ton. I finish up in free software like DeepSkyStacker.
