DAE remember the excitement of waiting for film astro photos to develop?

I just pulled out a box of my early 2000s astrophotography slides. The wait to see if a shot turned out was part of the fun. Today, with live view and stacking, it's all immediate gratification. Do you think we've lost something in the process?

Yeah, that wait was half the magic. What I do now is turn off the camera screen for a whole night of shooting. Forces you to trust your setup and just enjoy being out under the stars. The surprise when you finally process the data the next day kinda brings back that old feeling. Modern tools are great, but you can still add a bit of mystery back into it.

Does the surprise ever match the old film wait?

Turning off the screen is a cool trick. Do you ever get home and find you messed up a whole night's worth of shots because of it?
