Dropped $180 on a star tracker mount, then learned my lens was the bottleneck

Spent 180 bucks on a used Sky-Watcher star tracker last spring, but my old 50mm kit lens still gave soft stars at 30 seconds. Anyone else find out the hard way that the mount is only half the equation?
