Had to pick between my $40 tripod and a $4 rock to hold the shutter open, and the rock won on Mount Rainier

The rock held steady for a 45 second shot of the Milky Way while my tripod wobbled in the wind, so now I want to know if anyone else just carries a heavy rock in their camera bag instead of trusting cheap legs.
