I finally picked a star tracker over a new lens for wide field shots
Last month I had $400 to spend and it came down to either the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i or a used Rokinon 14mm f/2.8. I went with the tracker and shot the Milky Way from a dark site near Bend, Oregon, and got 90 second subs with no trailing for the first time. My old 50mm f/1.8 is doing fine on it, but now I'm wondering if I should have grabbed the wide lens first. Anyone else make this call and regret it, or did the tracker end up being the better buy?
