Just compared my old Jupiter shot from 2020 to one I took last night
The difference is WILD. I used the same 8-inch scope but last night I finally got a proper planetary camera, a ZWO ASI224MC. The old photo was just a blurry orange blob, but now I can actually see the Great Red Spot and cloud bands clearly. It's crazy what a dedicated camera can do over just holding your phone to the eyepiece. Anyone else made a big jump in gear that totally changed their photos?

My old 8-inch scope and a webcam still gave me better views than my eyes alone.

Nothing beats seeing it live with your own eyes though, the feeling is totally different.

Totally get that, my first attempts looked like a potato took them. @craig.mila is right though, even a basic setup beats eyeballing it. I upgraded my mount last year and it was a complete game changer.
