Last night I had to pick between stacking images or using a single long exposure of the Orion Nebula

I was out at a dark spot near Lake Hughes with my DSLR and tripod, and I only had about 90 minutes before the moon came up. I went with stacking 30 second shots because I figured it would handle noise better, but my alignment software kept glitching on me and I lost half the frames. Has anyone else had better luck just doing one solid exposure instead of messing with stacks?

Have you tried taking flats and bias frames with your stack to fix the glitching?

Honestly flats never really fixed that kind of glitch for me.

Eh is it really that big of a deal? Sometimes a little glitch adds character. I'd just roll with it.
