My kid asked me why we take pictures of space if we can't go there
I was showing him my shot of the Orion Nebula from last weekend, and he just said 'but we can't visit it, so why do we look?' It made me realize I take the photos for the wonder, not the travel. Anyone else have a moment that made you think about why you do this hobby?

What did you tell him? I told my niece we're like detectives with a time machine, since the light is so old. She liked that we were catching starlight that left before she was born.
