Rant: a nebula photo with the contrast cranked to 11 is not more detail
I keep seeing folks in my local club's Facebook group push the slider until the faint dust looks like a neon sign, then call it a deeper image. Last month I shot the same patch of Orion from my driveway in Tucson over four nights, stacked it clean, and the soft gradients showed way more real structure than anything I got from overdoing the curves. Does anyone here have a rule of thumb for when you've crossed from bringing out detail to just painting it in?
