Rant: my star trails came out as dotted lines because of one setting I skipped
I set my interval timer to 2 seconds between 30 second shots for a 45 minute stack over Lake Erie, and every trail came out broken into little dashes. Turns out my camera's long exposure noise reduction was eating a few seconds after each frame, so the gaps were way bigger than the timer. Anyone know if it's better to just turn that off and deal with the noise later, or should I switch to a shorter exposure and more frames?
