Saturn's rings looked different through my old scope vs a 10-inch dob

I spent two years with a 4-inch refractor and thought I had a solid handle on Saturn. Then last month a buddy let me borrow his 10-inch dobsonian at a dark site near Lake Casitas, and the gap between those views is honestly ridiculous. The refractor showed a sharp little dot with a ring line, but the dob revealed the Cassini division without me even trying, plus the globe had actual banding and shadow detail. The change wasn't subtle, it felt like looking at a different planet entirely. It makes me wonder if I've been missing a ton of detail in other objects too, or if Saturn just benefits that much from aperture. Anyone else had a similar jump when they upgraded their scope, or is this just a weird Saturn thing?
