The moon filters I used for 6 years were the wrong size the whole time

Back in 2018 I bought a 1.25 inch moon filter for my telescope, never thought twice about it. Last month I finally upgraded to a 2 inch eyepiece and realized the filter didn't fit, so I checked the box and saw it was for a different thread size entirely. My lunar shots always had this weird glare on the edge, and I just assumed it was atmospheric stuff or my cheap scope. Turns out the filter was only covering part of the light path, and that's why every photo of the moon looked slightly washed out on one side. Anyone else ever run a mismatch like that with filter or adapter sizes on their setup?

Man, that reminds me of my buddy who ran mismatched camera adapters for years and wondered why his astro shots had that soft halo on every star. Turned out his T-ring was for a different brand mount and the glass was sitting at a weird tilt the whole time. He only figured it out when he borrowed another guy's setup and suddenly everything was crisp.
