Update: I thought my phone could not shoot the Milky Way, and now I am not so sure
Three weeks ago I drove out past Lake Mead to get away from the city glow and tried shooting the Milky Way with just my phone on a cheap tripod, and I almost deleted the whole batch. The first 40 shots came out as gray mush, so I figured the skeptics were right and phones just cannot do it. Then a guy parked next to me said "lock your focus and bump the exposure to 15 seconds," and the next shot actually showed the dust lanes. Now I cannot decide if this proves phone astro is real or if it was just one lucky night with good seeing. Has anyone gotten a shot they would actually print from a phone, or is it always a compromise?
