Appreciation post: That 2008 F-150 frame swap in the rain last Thursday

Everything went wrong, the lift failed, and we had to finish it with floor jacks and a come-along. Has anyone else pulled off a major job with basically no proper equipment?

How long did that mess take you" is exactly what I would have said before. I used to think any project that looked messy was a waste of time. Then I saw my kid spend a whole afternoon building a crazy cardboard fort that looked like a trash heap. But the way he explained every tunnel and tower, you could see his brain working the whole time. The mess was the point. It changed how I look at my own projects now.

Totally agree with @young.nora. The messy process is where you figure stuff out.
