Had a customer yell at me about my filler work and he was right
Dude came in about 3 months ago with a '78 F150 he wanted a quick patch on the rear quarter panel. I laid the filler on thick, sanded it smooth, and thought it looked fine. He took one look and said I was gonna be fixing that same spot in a year because I didn't feather it out wide enough. I blew him off at first but then I thought about it and checked it last week. Sure enough, there's a hairline crack already forming around the edge. Now I spread my filler way past the damage and taper it down slow. Anyone else ever get called out like that and end up learning something?

My buddy does drywall and he said the exact same thing happens with mud. People always try to save time by keeping it tight and then wonder why it cracks later. It's like anything in life really, if you rush the prep work you're just making extra work for yourself down the road.
