I was buffing a hood for 20 minutes before noticing my pad was clogged with old compound

A trainee pointed out the haze wasn't clearing, and I realized I hadn't cleaned my pad once. How often do you guys swap or clean pads on a big panel?

Oof, that's a rough way to learn that lesson. Honestly, you should be cleaning the pad way more than that, like after every couple of passes. A clogged pad just can't do its job right and you're just moving spent product around. On a big hood, I'd probably stop and clean it out four or five times at least. It feels like it slows you down, but it actually saves time because the work gets done right.

Cleaning after every pass seems like overkill though. Ever think a slightly loaded pad might actually help spread product more evenly?
