My compressor kicked the bucket mid-job on a '78 F150 yesterday
Had the whole passenger quarter panel cut and ready to weld when the motor seized up with a grinding halt, and I spent the next three hours borrowing a buddy's rig 20 miles away to finish the bead rolls, so has anyone found a brand that actually holds up past five years without dropping $3k on a Quincy?

My buddy Dave had the same thing happen on his project truck a couple years back. He bought one of those mid-range Campbell Hausfeld pumps, figured it would be fine for weekend stuff. That thing grenaded after like 14 months, sounded like a bag of rocks inside. He finally gave up and got a used Ingersoll Rand from a shop that was upgrading, and that's been running strong for four years now with just an oil change or two. Sometimes going used on the good brands is the way to go instead of fighting with the cheap new ones.

Totally agree, grabbed a used Quincy from a closing shop five years ago and it still runs like new.
