Old timer told me to skip primer on that plastic bumper - big mistake
A guy named Mike at the shop near Denver told me to skip adhesion promoter and primer on a 2018 Honda front bumper. Said it would save time and the paint would stick fine. Two weeks later the clear coat is peeling off in sheets. Has anyone else had a so-called expert give advice that ruined their job?

Man that sucks. You gotta use adhesion promoter on modern plastic bumpers, no exceptions. The factory coating has mold release agents that paint won't stick to without the right prep. I learned that one the hard way too on a Ford bumper back in 2019. Strip it down, hit it with adhesion promoter, primer, then paint. Don't skip any steps or you'll be doing it twice.

Ford switched to TPO in 2017 not 2019 though.
