Oh man, that's rough. I've done basically the exact same thing but with a deck stain last summer. Spent a whole afternoon sanding only to realize I forgot to wipe the dust off before rolling the stain on. Looked like a textured mess after it dried. Yours sounds even worse though - peeling in sheets is a whole new level of frustration. At least now you know for next time, right? Live and learn I guess.

Peeling in sheets" sounds like what my old man's paint did after he swore it was "the good stuff" from a garage sale. At least yours learned you a lesson before you had to repaint the whole thing twice.
