Switched from hand sanding to a DA sander and my elbows finally stopped screaming

Used to sand entire quarter panels by hand for 8 hours straight. Last Tuesday I grabbed a cheap DA sander from Harbor Freight and finished the same job in under 2 hours. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize you've been making things way harder for yourself?

Seriously man, buying that DA sander probably saved your joints from permanent damage. Hand sanding a whole quarter panel is brutal, I did it once on an old Civic and my wrist clicked for a week. The cheap Harbor Freight ones actually work fine for bodywork, you don't need a fancy $500 tool for this stuff. Ngl, the worst part is realizing how much wasted time and pain you put yourself through before. Glad your elbows are finally getting a break.

Honestly, clicking for a whole week sounds more like you overdid it than a sign that hand sanding is gonna wreck you permanently. Tbh, a lot of this "save your joints" stuff feels like a way to justify buying a tool you wanted anyway.
