Why does nobody talk about the tab you break on a plastic bumper pull
Last Tuesday I was pulling a cracked cover off a 2019 Camry in my bay and went too fast on the last clip, and the tab snapped clean off the bumper. I stood there for a second mad at myself, then grabbed the plastic welder and a scrap strip of the same material instead of reaching for filler. Twenty minutes later it was fused and stronger than the factory tab, and I charged the customer $45 for the repair instead of quoting a new cover. My point is that too many guys in this trade treat a broken tab as a dead part, and it is not. The weld held fine through the reinstall and I checked it again a week later with no cracks. What is your go-to fix when a clip tab lets go on you, weld it or just eat the cost of a new cover?
