Air ratchet vs breaker bar decision took me 2 hours on a rusty F-150
Had a lower control arm bolt seized so bad on a 2011 F-150 that my 1/2 inch impact just laughed at it. I stood there staring at my pneumatic air ratchet set thinking it could finesse the nut off, but I knew from past jobs it lacks the torque for anything that fought back. Grabbed the 24 inch breaker bar with a cheater pipe instead, popped it after 3 grunts and a lot of PB Blaster. Now I keep the air ratchet for interior trim and plastic covers only, not suspension stuff. Anyone else given up on air ratchets for real seized bolts or am I the only one who wasted time learning that lesson?
