Shoutout to the old Haynes manual I found at a yard sale

I was flipping through a 1987 Ford truck manual I picked up for a dollar. On page 43, it said the original 302 V8 had a 4.00 inch bore. For some reason I always thought it was 4.02. I checked three other sources online and the manual was right. Has anyone else had a small detail like that stuck in their head wrong for years?

Man, I've had the firing order wrong on my old Chevy for ages.

Honestly that's the kind of mistake that'll make an engine run just good enough to drive you crazy. Tbh I bet it was idling rough and had a weird miss at certain RPMs but never totally died. Ngl the crazy part is you probably got used to how it sounded and felt, so fixing it might feel weird at first.

Ha, been there. I once spent a whole weekend trying to figure out why my lawnmower wouldn't start. Turns out I had the spark plug wire on the wrong post the whole time.
