Took me 6 years to realize I was torquing lug nuts in the wrong pattern
Was swapping tires on my F-150 and a older mechanic walked by and asked why I was going clockwise instead of a star pattern. Have any of you picked up bad habits from just watching youtube tutorials early on?

That thing about "going clockwise instead of a star pattern" really stuck out to me. How did you find out you had been doing it wrong, like did you feel any wobble or weirdness in the tires over those six years? I'm always curious how people figure out their own bad habits before someone points them out.

Sticking to a star pattern now, no wobble issues came up but my rotors warped sooner than they should have.

Six years of doing it wrong is insane man. How did your rotors even last that long without major issues if you were torquing in a circle? I would've thought the uneven pressure would shake the wheel right off.
