Vent: swapped my 1/2 inch impact for a 3/8 stubby on brake jobs and I'm never going back
I've been reaching for the big 1/2 inch air impact on every brake job for years, and last month my compressor died mid-Saturday so I grabbed my buddy's 3/8 stubby cordless out of the truck just to finish a set of rotors on a Tacoma. That little thing zipped the caliper bolts off cleaner than my air gun ever did, and I didn't have to wrestle a hose around the wheel well once. Took me about 20 minutes less per side, no joke. The big gun keeps rounding off rusty hardware because I can't feather the trigger, but the stubby lets me sneak up on it. Been using it on 6 trucks since then and not one stripped bolt. Anybody else drop down to the small stuff for brakes, or am I late to this party?
