Watched a kid run a compression test in 4 minutes that took me 3 hours back in 2009
Last week I watched a new guy at our shop pull all 6 plugs, thread in the gauge, and have cold numbers on the board before I finished my coffee. Back in my first year at a shop outside Phoenix, that same job ate most of an afternoon because I was wrestling a deep socket by hand and second-guessing every reading. What changed was the hose and the quick-release fitting, plus the fact that he fired it up cold and wrote the numbers straight down without hemming and hawing. His chart matched mine to within 5 psi on every cylinder, so I can't even argue he cut corners. I'm not saying the old way was wrong, but watching him finish that fast honestly stung a bit. Curious if you all have a go-to order for hooking up the gauge or do you just start at cylinder one and work down the line?
