Why do we talk about eco-cars but ignore shop waste?

We generate tons of trash every day fixing vehicles.

Ever wonder if the "green" in green car just refers to the mold growing on the old oil filters in the dumpster?

Seriously. That's a big point. We see all these ads for clean electric cars. But what about the used oil filters, the plastic wrap from parts, the old coolant containers. That stuff piles up fast in a shop. Is there even a good way to recycle most of it, or does it all just get trashed.

What happens to all that stuff, @smith.anna? Honestly... most of it gets dumped. Shops are supposed to recycle oil filters and plastic, but the systems are a mess. Coolant containers and wrap just pile up because it costs too much to process. The ads show clean cars, but the back of the shop tells a different story. We focus on the tailpipe but ignore the trash heap... it's a big hole in the green message.
