Booked a carrier through a broker, car showed up 4 days late with a broken mirror
I moved from Phoenix to Kansas City for a new job and hired a broker for my 2018 Civic since I had never shipped a car before. They quoted me $1,100 and promised pickup within a week, but the actual carrier they subbed it to didn't show up until day 11. When the driver finally arrived, the side mirror was cracked and he just shrugged and told me to call the broker. I filed a claim and got $180 back after about six weeks, which didn't even cover the repair. Now I only call carriers directly, so does anyone have a broker they actually trust or is going straight to the company the only safe move?

Brokers are just middlemen taking a cut and then passing the blame when stuff goes wrong, so your story tracks 100 percent. I shipped a truck from Dallas to Seattle last year and the broker quoted me 9 days, took 16, and the driver showed up with a cracked windshield that they swore was already there. Claim took almost two months and I got maybe $150, which was a joke compared to the $400 fix. Going straight to the carrier is the move, at least you know who to yell at when something breaks.
