Broker quoted me $850 to move a Civic from Phoenix to Denver, then the driver asked for $1,300 at pickup
This is the third time I've seen a phone quote change once the carrier actually shows up, and it always happens because people book through a broker instead of calling the carrier direct. Has anyone actually locked in a price that held, or is a deposit the only real way to make it stick?

Wait, did the driver actually give you a reason for the jump, or did he just stand there until you paid? I ask because if the broker never sent the real weight or route details to the carrier, that price was never real to begin with. Next time ask the broker what number the carrier was given before you put anything down.
