Everyone in this community seems to say you should never pay more than $600 for a 1,400 mile move, but when I booked mine from Phoenix to Denver 3 weeks out, every broker I called quoted me between $850 and $1,100. I went with the $890 one because the guy actually answered his phone and knew what a 2006 Corolla with a bad strut mount needed. Car showed up 2 days early, no scratches, driver called me twice on the route. I keep hearing people say they got it done for $500 and I honestly think those quotes are either bait and switch or the car sits for a month waiting. Has anyone actually paid under $700 for that distance recently, or is that just a number people throw around on here?
This is the same thing that happens with home repair quotes. Every guy on YouTube says you can get a new water heater installed for $400 and then you call 6 plumbers and the cheapest one is $1,200. People repeat the best deal they ever heard about like it's the normal price. Meanwhile the guy who actually shows up on time, answers his phone, and does good work charges what the market actually costs. You paid for someone who knew what a bad strut mount meant instead of some random broker who would've farmed it out to whoever was cheapest. That's worth something, even if the internet says otherwise.
