My uncle in Bakersfield swore I didn't need a broker for my truck, and it cost me $450
I shipped my Silverado from Bakersfield to Boise back in April and my uncle told me to just call a carrier direct because brokers are a middleman scam. So I did, found a guy who quoted me $1,100 and promised pickup that Friday. Friday came and went, then the next Friday, and by day 12 I paid a broker $450 extra just to get someone to actually show up. Turns out the direct carrier was double booking and had zero backup plan, which is exactly what a broker handles. Anyone else had luck going direct, or is it always this much of a gamble?
Wait your uncle told you to skip the broker and then it sat for 12 days?? I would've lost my mind. That $450 probably felt like a kick in the teeth after thinking you were saving money.
