A friend asked me to fix his kid's drone since I 'do planes'

I had to explain that avionics on a big plane is not like a toy drone. He still tried to hand me a broken propeller.

Did my friend's coworker hand him a broken drone because he 'does planes'?

Why is a broken drone such a big deal if he likes planes?

Okay, so you're asking why a broken drone is a big deal for someone who likes planes. I mean, it's just a coworker trying to be nice, even if it's a bit off base. People hear you're into something and they grab whatever seems close, without really thinking it through. It's not like it's a personal insult or anything, maybe they just wanted to clear out some old junk. Sure, it's annoying when folks don't get your hobby, but getting worked up over a free broken thing seems extra. Honestly, sometimes we take this stuff too seriously and forget it's just a dumb gift from someone who probably meant well.

Man, this happens all the time. People hear you're into one thing and assume you want all their broken related stuff. It's like they're just using your interest as an excuse to clean out their garage. I get old cameras from family because I like photos, but half of them don't even work. Same deal with the drone, maybe the coworker thought planes and drones are both flying things so it's a good hand-me-down. It shows how people don't really get what you're about.
