A lead mechanic in Phoenix called my wire routing 'a future snag list' after a 2-hour troubleshoot

He said to bundle by system, not just length, and now I spend 10 extra minutes planning each run. Anyone else have a simple routing rule that saved you headaches later?

That Phoenix guy is overcomplicating a simple job. I've done clean length-based bundles for years and never had a real snag. Those extra ten minutes per run add up to HOURS of wasted time over a project. Sometimes a neat bundle is just a neat bundle, not a future problem.

Wait until you're the one tracing a fault at 2am.

Yeah the "neat bundle is just a neat bundle" line got me. I used to say the exact same thing. But then I had my own version of what dianaanderson is talking about, hunting a fault in the middle of the night on a bundle that looked perfect. I mean it was so clean you could take a picture of it. Took forever to find the pinch. Now I leave the slack. Maybe it's just me but that changed my whole view.
