Dropped $295 on a "TSO'd" pitot static test box off eBay and the paperwork was fake
Bought it from a guy in Tulsa who swears he pulled it from a Part 145 shop that closed down. The TSO tag looked right until my PMI looked up the number and it traced back to a unit that got scrapped in 2016. So now I'm out $295 and the FAA is asking why a non-traceable box was in my bay for two weeks. Stick to the approved vendors even when the deal looks good.

Guy in Tulsa selling "shop closeout" gear is basically a red flag factory.
