Finally got a stubborn LRU to talk after switching diagnostic methods

Had a line replaceable unit on a regional jet that kept failing its built-in test. For two days, I was just running the standard BITE and checking the fault codes it gave me. Yesterday, I pulled out the old signal generator and started feeding known-good waveforms directly into the input pins. Found the issue in about an hour: a tiny bit of corrosion on a connector pin that the internal test couldn't isolate. The direct signal injection made all the difference. Anyone have a favorite method for chasing down intermittent faults like that?

The BITE test is the first thing I'd try too.

Sometimes you have to bypass the computer's logic to find the simple, physical problem.
