Got called out for my wire routing on a G1000 install last month, and it stung.

A senior tech I respect watched me bundle a bunch of avionics wires together with the main power feed. He just said, 'You're asking for noise. Separate them by at least three inches, always.' I'd been taught to keep things neat and tight, but he was right. Started routing signal and power on opposite sides of the tray, and my post-install troubleshooting time dropped big time. Anyone have a good rule of thumb for separation distances on smaller GA birds?

My old boss swore by a six-inch gap, minimum.

My uncle's deck collapsed, phoenixb34, so yeah, that gap matters.
