I used to laugh at the guys who brought a thermal camera to every job, but one saved me three hours on a Friday in Phoenix.

Reminds me of how often we dismiss a tool as overkill until it solves a problem we didn't even know we had. We get stuck in our ways, calling something a gimmick right up until it saves our skin. That moment in Phoenix is just a small example of a bigger truth, that being open to the right tool can turn a long day into a short one. It's a good lesson in not judging a method before you've felt the need for it yourself.

Exactly, we all have that one tool we mocked before it saved us. My old boss laughed at a simple script until it fixed a huge data mess overnight. Sometimes the best solutions look silly until you're desperate.

Remember laughing at my neighbor for his fancy stud finder that beeped at everything. Called it a toy for people who couldn't use their knuckles. Then I spent a whole Saturday patching holes after missing a stud three times. Bought the same model on Sunday. It’s funny how a little humble pie makes the best tools seem brilliant.
