Just realized the 20 minute wait on the pitot heat test was not wasted time after all
Back in March a retired shop lead named Gus at our hangar in Tucson told me to let the pitot heat run a full 20 minutes before calling it good, even when the amp draw looked fine after 5. I shrugged it off for a while, then one cold morning the tube never got warm past the first inch and I found a bad spot in the element that a quick check would have missed entirely. How long do you all let heat tests run before you trust the reading?
