PSA: The old flight school's analog trainer just got scrapped in my town

Passed by the lot and saw it in pieces. Back in the day, we learned systems on those clunky units with real dials and wires. Now trainees use sims on tablets that look nothing like the cockpit. Feels like losing a piece of how we came up. Still, gotta admit the new ways get folks trained faster.

See stuff like this all the time. Things get outdated and replaced. Those old units probably had their own set of problems anyway.

Remember trying to trace a hydraulic line fault on that old Cessna 172 trainer back in '09. You had to follow the actual pipes under the floor panels. Sims today just show a red flashing icon on a screen. I mean, you fix it faster, but you don't really learn why the fluid goes that way. Maybe it's just me, but that hands-on problem solving built a different kind of instinct for when things go wrong off-script.

Those big physical dials just felt different, you know.
