Rant: dropped $400 on a used IFR-1500 and it saved my rear on a Falcon 900 job
Bought this thing off a guy retiring out of a shop near Love Field and honestly I almost didn't pull the trigger. The screen had a scratch and the battery pack was toast so I talked him down from $650, then dropped another $90 on a rebuilt cell. Last Tuesday I'm out on the ramp in 95 degree heat chasing a squawk on a Falcon 900 and my fancy shop tester decides to brick itself mid-check. The old brick fires right up, walks me through the pitot-static leak in about 20 minutes, and I'm out of there before the crew even boards. My lead keeps saying we don't need the old gear but I'm never selling this thing. Anybody else still carrying legacy test boxes because the new stuff quits when you need it most?
