Walked through the avionics bay at a 737 ramp in Denver

Whoever routed those wire bundles through the aft equipment bay must have been in a hurry because they were snagged on two different support brackets and one was already chafed through the jacket, has anyone else found lazy routing on newer frames?

Silicone tape is solid for that exact kind of thing. Used a wrap of self-fusing silicone on a chafed wire bundle in the tail section of an old 727 I was helping a buddy with. Held like a charm for two years until the next scheduled maintenance tear down. Just gotta make sure you stretch it tight enough when wrapping so it bonds to itself properly. Definitely beats electrical tape for anything that sees vibration or heat.

Wrapping silicone tape around those chafed spots held until my next heavy check.

Had a friend who used electrical tape on a leaky hose on his truck once. Worked fine for about a week until the whole thing just let go on a highway ramp. Different kind of chafing I guess, but same idea - temporary fixes can go sideways fast. Silicone tape is way better than electrical for anything that moves or heats up though.
