Worst week of my career - bad wiring almost grounded a whole fleet
Last Tuesday I found a cracked terminal block on a CRJ-200 that'd been flagged as 'intermittent comms' for weeks. Turned out the previous guy had used a non-standard crimp tool and the whole bundle was loose. By Friday I'd had to re-terminate 14 pins across 3 planes, took me 18 hours total. Has anyone else dealt with shoddy work from outsourced MRO shops? I'm seeing it more and more.

Wonder what else is hiding behind panels they've touched before you.

18 hours across 3 planes for 14 pins? That's brutal. I can't believe someone used a non-standard crimp tool on a CRJ-200 of all things, that's just asking for trouble down the line. I've seen my share of shoddy work from outsourced shops, but a whole bundle loose like that is next level scary. Makes you wonder what else is hiding behind the panels they touched, right?

oh i dunno taylor12, i think people get a little too worked up over stuff like this sometimes. yeah, a loose bundle and a non-standard crimp tool isn't ideal, i'll give you that. but honestly, the CRJ-200 has been flying for decades and it's built like a tank. those planes have seen way worse and kept going. i've seen mechanics use a flathead screwdriver as a pry bar on a panel and nobody batted an eye. plus, those outsourced shops usually have a QA inspector who catches most of the nonsense before it even gets out the door. sure, it's not pretty, but calling it "next level scary" feels a bit dramatic to me. i'd rather they just fix it and move on instead of acting like this is some hidden disaster waiting to happen.
