Compared credit unions to big banks after 3 years of both
I switched from Wells Fargo to a local credit union in Austin last year and the difference is night and day. The big bank hit me with a $35 overdraft fee for a $2 coffee purchase. My credit union actually called me when I was about to go negative on rent. How many of you have made the switch and noticed the same thing?

Honestly though, how many times have you actually had to call your credit union in the middle of the night or on a Sunday? Because that's the real test, right? When my old bank's app went down and I couldn't move money before a payment hit, I was stuck waiting until Monday. My credit union's customer service line actually picks up within five minutes, even on weekends. Have you ever tried to get a same-day wire transfer from a big bank without paying an extra $30 fee?

My credit union in Denver refunded a $3 atm fee from another bank's machine without me even asking. The teller just did it when I mentioned it in passing. Big banks would have charged me $3 plus their own $2.50 fee and called it a favor. My overdraft protection actually works now too, it pulls from savings for free instead of hitting me with $35 every time I forget to move money. The customer service alone is worth the switch, you actually talk to the same people who remember your name.

Man I don't know, it's just a few bucks we're talking about here. People act like a credit union is gonna hand them the keys to a house or something.
