Just spent 3 days trying to figure out why my budget spreadsheet kept giving me a different number every time I opened it.

Oh man, did you have it pulling from a live data source or something? I had this exact thing happen last year and it drove me nuts. Turned out I had a cell linked to a stock price that kept updating, which threw off my whole total. Check for any links to websites or other files that might be changing. I finally had to copy all my numbers and paste them as plain values to lock them in.

Lol classic case of overcomplicating a simple spreadsheet. We all get excited about live data until it starts gaslighting our budget totals. That moment you realize your finances are at the mercy of some random website's API is just painful. Honestly feels like the software is just messing with you on purpose. The "paste as values" fix is the digital equivalent of unplugging it and plugging it back in. Works every time but you feel a little dumb for needing to do it.

My budget sheet last month kept changing by like twelve dollars every time I opened it. Drove me absolutely crazy until I found the culprit. I had a cell pulling the current gas price from some fuel tracker website. Every refresh, my total for the month would jump around. I did exactly what you said, copied everything and pasted it as values. Why do we even set up those live links when they cause more trouble than they're worth?
