My neighbor's 'babbling' about his crypto plan made me think about risk

Last week in Austin, he told me he put half his savings into a new coin because he 'had a feeling'. Three years ago, I saw a friend lose a lot on a similar hunch. Is it ever smart to invest based on a gut feeling, or is that just babble?

My buddy Jake put 20 grand into crypto back in 2021 because it seemed like easy money. He was going to use it for a new car. I remember telling him it was a smart move at the time.
