My neighbor's lawn went from patchy brown to deep green in just 6 weeks

I noticed his yard looking rough back in April, all yellow spots and thin grass. He told me he'd been watering every single day for 10 minutes, just hitting the surface. Then he switched to watering twice a week but for 45 minutes each time, really soaking it deep. Six weeks later the grass is thick and dark green and I couldn't believe the difference just changing the schedule made. Has anyone else seen that big a shift just from watering deeper instead of more often?

Check your soil pH first. Mine looked identical until I balanced it.

Right? My lawn is basically 50% weeds and 30% dandelions, the other 20% is just me hoping nobody looks too close. I'm definitely not the person to take lawn advice from.
